"Adult Education (PLAR)"
Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) is a program designed for adult students (18 years and older). There is a JR. and SR. component to PLAR. Student transcripts and previous credits earned are reviewed to determine a pathway for PLAR students. JR. PLAR is made up of course modules in English, Math, Science, History and Geography. ... Completion of these modules allows students to be granted up to sixteen grade 9 and 10 credits. The SR. PLAR process involves an application called the Senior Equivalency Application (SEA). The SEA outlines life and work experiences and is submitted with a resume. A student may earn up to ten grade 11 and 12 credits. Students have the opportunity to earn up to 26 credits through the PLAR process. This can happen in a matter of months rather than years. A number of KiHS graduates have been through the PLAR program. If you are 18 years or older, inquire about the PLAR program to determine eligibility.
